Charmaine suffers from neuroblastoma, a kind of cancer that occurs in infants and kids. Her doctor said that with treatment in Singapore, Charmaine has only 10% - 20% chance to live. Charmaine's doctor told Cynthia (mommy) that a drug in New York will double up her chance of survival to 40% - 50%. The news offered Cynthia a glimpse of hope.
Unfortunately, the drug is not available in Singapore and is not yet approved in Singapore.
Cynthia then, asked her doctor how much she would need to gather to bring Charmaine to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre (MSKCC), New York for the drug. Cynthia was told USD $350,000 would be required as the upfront deposit before treatment begins!
Cynthia’s glimpse of hope quickly vanished.
She felt numbed...she just cried...
For she felt awfully helpless...
Where is she going to find half a million Singapore dollars?!
Is she going to lose her daughter?
She wants Charmaine to live.
She wants to try…
She will never forgive herself if she does not even try...
Cynthia says, “Please pardon me for making this challenging request unto you. As a mother, I must try for my child. I must try. I am really really sorry if I have been rude. Please help me. I am desperate.”
